Dave Tangney was born in Seattle, WA in 1958. He attended Seattle University and received his BA in art in 1980. He studied and painted for 2 more years in Seattle before moving to San Francisco, CA. He attended the San Francisco Art Institute where he received his BFA in 1984 and MFA in 1987. He worked as the Painting Department Manager and adjunct faculty member at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1989 – 2000. He was a mentor at JFK University (Arts and Consciousness – Graduate Program) from 1996-2000. He is represented in many private collections as well as the collection of Lucent Technologies. He moved to the North Bay in 1989 and has maintained a studio in Healdsburg, CA since 1990.
